We chose to change the pattern
NAME Education Butwal began in 2072 B.S., in the month after the earthquake, from a few rooms at Ganesh Path. The belief behind it was simple: a student's future should not be decided by the town they were born in.
At the time an ambitious student here who wanted to sit the medical entrance had one realistic option — leave. Leave the family, move to Kathmandu, and hope the institute they found was the right one. Subject specialists, a structured entrance syllabus, materials worth trusting and a room full of people working just as hard were all somewhere else.
We set out to change that pattern rather than accepting it: to build, in Butwal, an academic environment serious enough that leaving stopped being the only way to compete.
That meant creating an opportunity, not just opening an institution. The opportunity for a student from Butwal to say out loud that they intend to become a doctor. For a family to back that ambition without putting their child on a bus. For Western Nepal to prepare, compete and succeed from its own city.
What began at Ganesh Path grew on the strength of the results students posted. Experienced subject teachers, a programme with a shape to it, materials worth reading twice, assessment often enough to be useful, and enough attention on each student to notice when one is struggling. Finishing the syllabus was never the point — being ready on the morning it matters was.
Today NAME Education Butwal runs from Milan Chowk, beside the Sky Bridge. The address has been changed, the classrooms have grown, the teaching has been sharpened. What has not been changed is what we believe a student from Butwal is capable of.
